samba workshops

For information on our Samba Maracatu Workshop on 6th June please click here

Magic Drum runs samba workshops at Dorchester Arts Centre every Monday evening from 7.30 - 9pm during term-time.

Participants are taught specific rhythms such as Afoxe, Batucada, Samba Reggae, Exu, Ile Aye for Brazilianpercussion instruments including tamborims, surdos, repiqes, caixas and agogos.

We now have between twenty and thirty regular members but are always looking to expand the band to play more open-air events during the summer months. No previous experience is necessary and we provide all the equipment. It's a great way to have fun playing music in a large group, whatever your age or musical knowledge!
